My name is Mark Stephen

I chose the word "Figura" for the name of my studio because I saw it defined as something that represented a "fact or ideal". I was intrigued by the question it implied – can something be both fact and ideal, or is it always one or the other? This describes photography to me. It can be both fact and ideal. The goal is to find the beauty in the actual person or thing being photographed, to see the ideal in the tangible and very real subject before you.

"Figura: (in literary theory) a person or thing representing or symbolizing a fact or ideal."
